The GBA and GBC/GB have different voltages going to their cart slots (and when the GBA is in "GBC mode" it uses a different voltage as well), so a cart designed for "GBA mode" wouldn't really work in "GB(C) mode", nor would a cart designed for the GBA work on a GB(C) console.
